Stock Show Schedule

 A Bit of History

110 years ago, the first stock show opened in Jan. 29, 1906 and ran for six days. According to the National Western Stock show website, it was estimated that over 15,000 people came. The Grand Champion steer sold for 33 cents a pound, 23 cents over the market price.

In 2006, the 16 day Stock Show had a record of over 700,000 people in attendance. The grand champion steer sold for $75,000 or $58 per pound. Traditionally, the champion is brought to a hotel where it eats hay from a silver platter, drinks from a silver cup and gets the beauty treatment- an eyelash curl and coat brush!
