Barry Kunselman has been a Sloan's Lake resident since 2015. Rankings were determined by scoring the neighborhood on a scale of A to F in the following categories with A being the best. Here's how Sloan's Lake scored:

 

Work- Life Balance:  A

I like to go for a run in the afternoon. Many times i hear people taking work calls walking around this beautiful lake. What better place to take a work call than around this beautiful lake? Most people in here they work from home so it's just great that you can get some work done, then go for a walk. Maybe walk to a restaurant grab some lunch and just it seems like a real balance between a little work and play in this neighborhood.

 

Food:  A-

There are plenty of cafes and local shops in the area as well. Local favorites in this neighborhood include Rise & Shine Biscuit Kitchen, Tap and Burger Sloan's Lake, Odell brewing, Chili Verde, Greg's, Leroy's Bagels. Although there are more than half a dozen restaurants in the area you can walk to, they are located on the outskirts, which means you will have to drive to options that are a little further away.

I want to give an A but I think Cherry Creek's got this beat so give it A-.

 

Walkability: A

The big appeal of living in Sloans Lake is the location. Residents can very easily commute to downtown or out West to the mountains with multiple route options.

When you're in Sloan's Lake you have lots of options. Walk the 32nd in Lowell by the Highland Square and you have access to everything off of Tennyson and Berkeley. You also have access to the public marketplace and Edgewater.

Due to the park’s vicinity, the area is filled with bike lanes and walking paths. you can have a leisurely walk to your favorite restaurants. The walkability and bikeability in Slaon's is absolutely unbelievable, making it both a kid-friendly and dog-friendly place to live.

Denver Bronco’s fans will love that Sloans Lake's is walking distance to Empower Field at Mile High.

Sloans Lake is ideal for those that want to be somewhat close to downtown but want all the peace and tranquility of a small town–basically the perfect balance between urban-core and high-country.

Sloan's Lake is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. We're not in the mountains but i'll definitely say when you've got water access, you can do stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking. We got to go with an A.

Located within the Sloan’s Lake neighborhood is the second-largest park in the city and the biggest lake in Denver. It's 2.8 multi-use trail is great for biking, jogging, or just a Sunday stroll with friends. The park also offers Tennis courts, playground areas, lake facilities. Take advantage of the baseball field,  basketball court and picnic areas.

Sloan's Lake houses many events like the Denver Marathon and the Dragon Boat Festival. Other notable sites located within minutes are: Empower Field, Elitch Gardens, and the Downtown Aquarium.

Sloans Lake is a family oriented neighborhood where you’ll find a mix of new contemporary remodels, Tudors, townhomes and duplex housing. If you are looking for walkable neighborhoods in Denver,  Sloan's Lake offers a great value. There are some expensive homes but the entry point homes are definitely very attainable in this market.

Rents are soaring–up 17% from a year ago. Condos can be a more affordable option for first time homebuyers in Sloan's Lake. Buying a condo now can springboard you into a bigger home later on.
