The former St Anthony Hospital site located in West Colfax, Denver is set for a major redevelopment. The developer,
Enviro Finance Group (EFG), will be selling individual parcels to residential and commercial developers starting next year.
Demolition is well under way. Most of the hospital buildings will be torn down to give way to new buildings. The abandoned hospital building will be converted to a largely residential area- mostly condos , town homes and apartment building. The development plan will include around 800-1200 for rent/sale residential units.Other uses for the site 19 acre site include a boutique hotel, grocer, restaurant, shopping & entertainment, and retail & office space serving the neighborhood.
The site is located 2 miles west of downtown, with panoramic views of the mountains and Sloan's Lake.
The redevelopment of the former St Anthony Hospital will spur the flow of private and public investment that will boost West Colfax community vibrancy to new levels.
The public has been mostly positive in embracing the project with the exception of a few individuals whose main concerns are lack of open spaces and zoning.
St. Anthony moved in 2011 from its longtime west Denver location to a new campus in Lakewood.
"I’m very excited to see the positive impact the St. Anthony’s Hospital re-development will have on the North/West Denver area. Most people who live in Sloan’s Lake and Highlands area don’t typically spend a lot of time outside of the what I call the “Highlands bubble” because the Highlands and Lohi offer so many great restaurants and shops there is not a reason to leave. I live in Berkeley and with the increasing shopping options at the St. Anthony’s Hospital Re-development I know my wife and I will spend less time fighting the traffic on Speer to get to the Cherry Creek Mall and will no long need to drive west to the Colorado Mills mall," says Barry Kunselman.
