University Homes in Denver CO

Denver's University neighborhood often referred to as the DU neighborhood, is a sizable neighborhood. As noted by the name, the neighborhood's biggest claim to fame is the fact that it houses the University of Denver's sprawling, 125-acre campus.

Single-family dwellings, high-rise apartments, and ranch-style homes—in a mix of architectural styles and eras—are common in this central Denver neighborhood, providing a variety of options for house hunters and making it a hip, yet a homey place to reside.

Beautiful 2-story Cape Cod in Cherry Hills Vista flooded with south-facing windows and natural sunlight.

Positioned between three major Denver thoroughfares, (I-25, Dartmouth, University, and Downing) residents have direct access to I-25, making for a quick commute downtown or to the DTC. It is bordered by South Downing Street to the west, I-25 to the north, South University to the west and both East Amherst and Dartmouth Avenues to the south. The following reasons make this community one of the hottest Denver neighborhood:

  • GREAT HOMES. The neighborhood's high home costs are reflective of much of the growth in the city — the closer the home is to Denver's urban core, the higher the home price. But, the neighborhood's offerings also tell the tale of what makes it an attractive place to live.
  • CENTRAL LOCATION. University residents enjoy all the college conveniences—including Evans Avenue’s bike shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, and cafes as well as University Boulevard’s ethnic eateries and eclectic clothing boutiques—without sacrificing the charm and character of an established neighborhood.
  • PARKS - The neighborhood also has a couple of parks great for families, such as DeBoer, which links to the Harvard Gulch Trail, a scenic place to ride a bike or go for a jog.
  • GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD The DU neighborhood is full of classic beauty — old trees, timeless architecture, pretty gardens — and things like dive bars and college-priced places to eat.

Nearby Attractions:

The University of Denver. Founded in 1864, DU is a private institution known for giving its students a unique blend of urban living combined with traditional education.

Enjoy the DU amenities by cheering on the Pioneers at Magness arena or hitting a pilates class at the state-of-the-art Coors Fitness Center. Homeowners here take comfort in the proximity to Porter Adventist Hospital, but also get a kick out of the booming nightlife.

The neighborhood is also home to eclectic eateries, local coffee shops, dive bars, and of course, a brewery.

  • Grab a melted cheese-and-shaved-beef classic at South Philly Cheese Steak at 2070 S. University Blvd, or head to Mustard's Last Stand at 2080 S. University Blvd. for a hotdog that comes complete with that old-school, counter-serve feel.
  • La Belle Rosette, a family-operated coffeehouse at 2423 S. University Blvd. is a great little spot to sit back with a book and some espresso.
  • Crimson and Gold Tavern and The Pioneer Bar, both lower-cost college-kid-friendly bars, also offer options for late-night/early-evening drinking.
  • Another local Denver coffee roasting company, Kaladi Brothers, boasts air-roasted beans and a funky atmosphere to study or read a book.
  • Another spot to check out it Fermaentra Brewery at 1715 Evans Ave., which offers unique brews like its Rozzer, a Southern English Brown, and Redolent, a crisp Belgian Blonde. Fermaentra is also known to have a different food truck parked outside for pretty much every day of the week.
  • Asbury Provisions, with 25 beers on tap, is also a great spot for beer-lovers. The restaurant, located at 2043 S. University Blvd. also serves sandwiches and hand-crafted cocktails.

5 Star University Client Review

Barry is a great listener and has tremendous knowledge of the Denver area so he showed me multiple properties that fit my criteria.  Once I decided to make an offer he moved quickly and efficiently to make sure mine was accepted; which in Denver's market is a huge advantage.
